Medical Secretary (Part-Time)

We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary with excellent IT, organisational, customer service, and communication skills. A professional telephone manner and ability to work under pressure are essential. The ideal candidate will be methodical, adaptable, and a positive team player.

Location & Hours:
On-site, 3 days per week (Monday–Wednesday)

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous GP practice experience
  • Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of referrals processes and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • 60 wpm audio typing

Desirable:

  • SystmOne experience (training provided)
  • Knowledge of GDPR and medical records processes
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, ECDL)

Main Duties

  • Manage NHS/private referrals, including tracking and follow-up
  • Provide accurate typing/audio transcription (letters, reports, referrals)
  • Handle correspondence and maintain filing systems
  • Liaise with patients, GPs, hospitals, and external organisations
  • Support non-NHS medical report processes
  • Arrange meetings, take minutes, and complete admin tasks
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with CQC standards
