Medical Secretary (Part-Time)
We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary with excellent IT, organisational, customer service, and communication skills. A professional telephone manner and ability to work under pressure are essential. The ideal candidate will be methodical, adaptable, and a positive team player.
Location & Hours:
On-site, 3 days per week (Monday–Wednesday)
Essential Requirements:
- Previous GP practice experience
- Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of referrals processes and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- 60 wpm audio typing
Desirable:
- SystmOne experience (training provided)
- Knowledge of GDPR and medical records processes
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, ECDL)
Main Duties
- Manage NHS/private referrals, including tracking and follow-up
- Provide accurate typing/audio transcription (letters, reports, referrals)
- Handle correspondence and maintain filing systems
- Liaise with patients, GPs, hospitals, and external organisations
- Support non-NHS medical report processes
- Arrange meetings, take minutes, and complete admin tasks
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with CQC standards
