NHS referral service

If you have been referred for more treatments or tests, you can check on the referral using our online form. You will need a letter of referral from your GP if you would like to see a private specialist or consultant.

If you have questions about your referral:

  • Telephone the hospital number on your appointment letter (if you have one)
  • Telephone RMS Kernow (Referral Management Service) on 01872 226700

Private Referrals

If you want a private referral, first research where you want to go. Private hospitals can give you information and let you know if you need a GP referral.

Hospital Waiting Times

The NHS created the My Planned Care website for patients to find out how long they have to wait at hospitals. The site will grow in the next few months to offer more help for patients during their wait.

Adult ADHD Referral Process

We are receiving a large amount of adult ADHD referral requests, and thought it might be helpful to clarify the process. The below information relates to ADHD referrals for adults. The ADHD referral route for children is via the Early Help Hub.

  1. Contact the surgery via our website www.staustellhealthcare.co.uk, click on the online contact form, and select “other admin request”.
  2. We will send you a form to complete. This form is for your referral to the local ADHD service. It needs to be filled in with lots of detail including the time and length of symptoms, especially those before to the age of 12.
  3. Return the form to the surgery, and you will be placed on a waiting list for an appointment.
  4. The referral will then be sent on.

The local ADHD service is provided by Cornwall CFT NHS Trust. You can read more about their service online here https://www.cornwallft.nhs.uk/adhd-service/. There is a long waiting time for the referrals, but the service is expanding. You will find information on the internet regarding your right to choose, however this is only an option if there is not an appropriate local service.

If you do have a private assessment undertaken, please check if they will provide prescriptions and follow-up care. The medication prescribed for ADHD needs ongoing monitoring and health tests, and we will not accept prescribing requests from private ADHD assessments.
